Arc welding is a type of welding that uses a power supply to create an electric arch between an electrode (electric conductor) and a base material to melt the metals at the welding point. While you can certainly purchase a welder for your car shop or jewelry making business, you can actually save some money in that department by making your own.
Check out this video to learn how to make an arc welder using a car battery and quarters. Made of copper and covered with nickel, quarters make great electrical conductors.

if your not careful though the battery can blow up
As above ^^ - pretty stupid to encourage anyone to do that with a car battery. . .
Thats the last thing you should do with one, as there is a good possibility for it to blow up.
cool
I really hope no one does this, there is a VERY good chance that with only a few minutes of "welding" you could blow the battery up, potentially blinding yourself. You're pretty much short circuiting it. If you want to weld get a $100 - 115v arc welder from Farm and Fleet or Harbor Freight. It's much safer that way~!
